- Q & A
The .38 Special has quite a history, one that’s probably rich with stories far beyond that of most pistol calibers. In the century-plus since its creation it’s spent more than 70 years as the standard issue caliber for law enforcement agencies all over the country and remains the most popular revolver cartridge on the market. Furthermore, even though it’s no longer issued to officers, many continue to use guns chambered in .38 Special as their backup gun or off-duty carry. It’s a popular round, and if you have a gun chambered in it, you probably use it for self-defense, which means you need target practice to ensure your accuracy.
These .38 Special rounds are 158 grain, making them moderately heavy for the cartridge. At this weight these rounds pack a better punch than their lighter counterparts but still manage to travel at decent speeds. These are Lead Flat Nose, LFN, rounds and do not expand on impact. Target rounds like these are actually prone to over-penetration because they simply impact targets, penetrate, and keep on going. Always make sure you have a good backstop in place and remember, know your target and what is beyond it. Each of these rounds has a muzzle velocity of 800 feet per second and muzzle energy of 225 foot-pounds. This ammunition is great for target practice and plinking.
When you place your order for this case of Sellier and Bellot ammunition you get 1000 target rounds. That’s enough ammunition to spend some serious time with your .38 Special. Remember, there’s no such thing as too much ammunition or too much target practice. These are new production, non-corrosive, brass-cased rounds with boxer primer so you can burn through the entire box, police your spent brass, reload it, and get even more range time. Sellier and Bellot manufactures ammunition at their factory in Vlasim, Czech Republic. Order now, and feed your .38 Special.
