More Details About This SinterFire 110gr Frangible .38 Spl Ammo
SinterFire usually loads ammunition for range training only. Shooters favor it for steel targets, as its sintered copper/tin bullets crumble upon impact. Such frangible bullets greatly reduce the risk of splash-back, and reduce the shooter’s exposure to lead while they’re at it.
SinterFire’s Special Duty ammunition, on the other hand, is … well, special. This ammo is loaded with hollow point frangible bullets. Their nose cavities enable them to expand upon striking soft tissue, thereby dispersing more kinetic energy into the threat, increasing diameter of the wound channel for the same, and reducing (but not eliminating) the risk of over-penetration that could injure bystanders.
SinterFire advertises this 38 Special defense ammo as optimal for use in sensitive places: hospitals, courtrooms, and such. Just be aware that no ammunition can do away the risk of over-penetration altogether. Never forget the fourth rule of gun safety. Be sure of your target and what lies beyond it.
