Do you carry a handgun for self-defense? If so, you probably try to get a fair amount of practice in, and if you’ve ever tried firing some of your defense ammunition, you know it delivers a stronger recoil than your target loads. One of those most popular defense rounds in law enforcement is Gold Dot, and as with any defense rounds, they cost more than target rounds. The price is certainly worth it for safety’s sake, but if you’re like most experienced shooters, you want your training to mirror reality as closely as possible, and that requires training something with your defense ammo – but does it have to? Speer thinks you should be able to train without breaking the bank.
This is Speer Lawman, high-performance, superior-quality target ammunition made just so you can train for self-defense situations without paying the greater cost of defense rounds. Lawman is designed to mimic the greater recoil of defense ammunition like Gold Dot, so you can practice at the same level of power you’d be at in case of the need to defend yourself. As with all of Speer’s ammunition, these rounds are made to stringent specifications and must undergo rigorous quality control. Speer manufactures their ammunition at their long-time plant in Lewiston, Idaho, within walking distance of the Snake River.
At 180 grain these are relatively heavy rounds for the .40 S&W, and that’s good because you want these rounds to more accurately represent your defense ammunition. They’re TMJ, which is similar to FMJ in that it does not expand on impact, but, unlike FMJ, TMJ has an entirely encased bullet, which drastically reduces how much lead gets in the air when you fire your gun. This ammunition has a muzzle velocity of 1000 feet per second and muzzle energy of 400 foot-pounds. These rounds are an ideal choice for self-defense training and also great for target practice, shooting drills, and plinking. Speer manufactures them in fresh brass, boxer primed cases, so they can be reloaded. You get an amazing 1000 target rounds in this case, and that’s just right because it’s going to enable you to train properly. Place your order, and prepare to defend yourself.
