- Q & A
The .22 Long Rifle cartridge was first introduced in 1887. Since its introduction the round has gained a reputation as a reliable and easy-shooting cartridge that comes at a low price. These traits have made it the most common round in the world and a popular choice for range training, recreational shooting and small game hunting.

on 6/23/2018Usually you can trust the Winchester name alone, but in this case, I really would not. I have never applied the term "click-bang" to .22lr before. I have no idea why the ammo is so inconsistent but it seems like once per cylinder of my Heritage revolver or once per mag from my 10/22 is a dud. That's not the only problem I have. The rim sometimes doesn't fire all the powder, making my rifle short stroke or delay the bolt. I noticed out of my peripheral vision as I fire my rifle that lots of sparks sometimes exit my barrel. Not all the powder is being fired. I used about 1000-1500 rounds of the case I purchased and am at a total loss what else to do with it. I do not want to run it in my 10/22 and my revolver prefers the lower velocity stuff. Great deal tho, just not very good ammunition.
