- Q & A
At 58 grains, this bullet is one of the lightest you’re going to find in a factory-loaded 243 Win cartridge. The round’s muzzle velocity is smoking fast at 3,850 feet per second because of it. The 0.254 G1 ballistic coefficient polymer tipped projectile shoots flat as an arrow, with a trajectory that only rises 1.5” total before striking a target at 200 yards.
But this round’s bullet doesn’t merely hit its target. It also kills it (so long as that target happens to be a varmint or predator). Its polymer tip rests on the rim of a thin copper-alloy jacket, and has a tail that extends down into a cavity within the solid lead core. The bullet fragments instead of expanding. That will drop a coyote fast, or turn a rodent-type creature into mincemeat in a heartbeat.
Winchester Varmint X ammo will help you convert varmints into ex-varmints without having to pause. The old American company’s brass cases, noncorrosive Boxer primers and propellant charges are all uniform and reliable.
