There’s no denying it – Winchester Silvertip is some of the prettiest 38 Special +P ammunition on the market. But this ammo isn’t just easy on the eyes. It’s also a great solution for self-defense!

The Silvertip jacketed hollow point gets its lustrous sheen from its aluminum-alloy plating. The alloy doesn’t affect the bullet’s performance in any meaningful way, but the JHP is designed to deliver the terminal expansion which neutralizes a threat more effectively.

This round’s case is nickel-plated, and that serves multiple purposes: smoother feeding into and ejection from the chamber, added resistance to corrosion, and better visibility of the cartridge itself in poorly lit environments.

This is overpressure ammo – i.e. +P. You will note stronger recoil when you fire it, but that pays off in the form of a flatter trajectory, greater energy delivery on impact, and deeper penetration. A bullet which transfers 245 ft lbs of kinetic energy to its target at five yards only requires good aim to neutralize the threat. This ammo is safe for all 357 Magnum firearms, but it can destroy a 38 Special revolver if the firearm is not rated for +P.
