Although the 9mm was created in 1901 by Georg Luger and being used by 1902, that use actually took place in Germany. The Germans used the 9mm through World War I, and as time passed, the cartridge began to see use in the United States. But it wasn’t actually until the 1980’s that the 9mm saw widespread use here in the U.S.; that’s when law enforcement agencies began to replace their old .38 Specials with it. The various agencies understandably didn’t want a gun with massive recoil, and the 9mm offers softer recoil than its bigger relatives while delivering while delivering a ballistic performance considerably superior to that of the .38 Special. Now, over three decades after the 9mm first saw significant use in the U.S., it’s also perhaps the most popular cartridge overall for self-defense and hobbyists.
This particular ammunition is 147 grain, which is fairly heavy for the 9mm. It’s still light enough to travel at good speeds, but it’s heavy enough to be a more compelling round. These are FMJ rounds best for target practice, shooting drills, and plinking. They fly from the barrel of your gun with a muzzle velocity of 985 feet per second and hit with a muzzle energy of 317 foot-pounds. Winchester produces them in virgin brass, boxer primed cases, so they can be reloaded. There are 500 target rounds in this box, so you can spend some real quality time with your 9mm.
This is Winchester’s Ranger Law Enforcement ammunition, which is designed specifically for better ballistic performance and precision. Basically, Winchester designed these rounds to meet the high standards of the law enforcement community, and today you can benefit from those strict specifications by ordering your own box of Winchester Ranger. All of Winchester’s ammunition is made right here in America, just as it always has been. If you want to take your training time to the next level, order this 500-round box, and prepare for improved marksmanship.
