This ammunition is made by Wolf, a company that’s a subsidiary of the legendary Tula Arms Plant. Tula was founded in 1712 by decree of Petr I because the town was under siege by nomads, and the nearest arsenal was all the way in Moscow. At the time it wasn’t possible to get to Moscow for help, and that meant having a local supplier of firearms and ammunition was a good solution. Tula got started right away, and although they began supplying the locals, they eventually moved on to the military and then branched out to distribute their ammunition all around the world.

At 145 grain these are considered lightweight for the .30-06 Springfield. Of course, being light means they’re going to go soaring down-range with stunning speed and still be powerful enough to rip a major hole in your stationary target. This is Full Metal Jacket ammunition, which means it both does not expand and also tends to over-penetrate. Rifle rounds can travel for miles unchecked – and you have no way of knowing what might be in their path – so it’s a must to have a reliable backstop in place.
