20 Rounds of 150gr SP 30-30 Win Ammo by Federal

There’s a town in Minnesota called Anoka. Good people there – when we discovered that the battery in our rental car had died while it was parked outside a bar called MaGillyCuddys (where we stopped for research purposes), two different guys were already coming toward us with jumper cables. The same sort of people work at Federal, which has been headquartered in Anoka since their foundation in 1922.

Federal’s Non-Typical Whitetail label is all about giving good people good ammo for good prices. This 30-30 Win cartridge is loaded with a 150 grain bullet, granting it a conventional muzzle velocity of 2,390 fps. It’s a quality soft point bullet, with the dense, uniformly distributed lead core and concentric jacket it needs to stay accurate over long distances. And when that bullet’s lead core starts peeling away during penetration, it consistently does the kind of damage that flattens a buck out lightning fast. Federal had the foresight to make the soft point’s nose pancake-flat, this being a lever-action load and all.

This round is brass cased – there is steel in Anoka, but they save it for other purposes. It’s furthermore Boxer primed for reloadability, and given clean burning propellant to keep your rifle’s bore from becoming a sooty nightmare.
