More Details About Our 200 Rounds of 130gr InterLock .270 Win Ammo by Hornady
When you hunt deer with a 270 Win rifle, Jack O'Connor looks down on you from heaven and smiles. Jack would probably approve of any kind of hunting with any kind of rifle, though it’s reasonable to assume that he hates junk ammo. That’s why we reckon he’d approve of Hornady American Whitetail.
The InterLock has a lot more going on under its hood than a standard soft point. Its jacket starts out thin at the rim and grows progressively thicker toward its base – a feature which promotes more reliable expansion and deeper penetration alike. The InterLock’s signature feature is the raised ring in its base. Alongside its cannelure, this protrusion helps the bullet’s core and jacket stay firmly rooted together during impact. It’s all in service of conserving momentum, which the InterLock uses to inflict a long, deadly wound channel.
Hornady delicately measures this ammo’s propellant charges to secure reliable operation in all rifles – semi-automatics included. Each charge sparks up clean to launch the 130 grain projectile to a muzzle velocity of 3,060 fps (24” test bbl). Totally up to you if you want to test this reloadable ammo’s lighter bullets on elk, but 130 grains is spot-on for whitetail, blacktail and mule in our book!
