- Q & A
The .308 Win got its start as a military sniper round and today is favored by a large number of hunters for a variety of game but typically for deer and elk. If you use yours to hunt, your season just might be more successful if you try a few sniper tips. First, zero your scope. We mean really zero it; a sniper won’t call a scope zeroed until they get 3 shots in a row within a 1” square from a distance of 100 yards. If your scope isn’t properly zeroed, it will affect your hunt. Second, learn from your gun’s recoil whether or not you’re doing things right. The firm recoil of a .308 should come straight back to you, with the scope going right back on target. That’s a sign you’re doing it right.
In order to do ammunition right, you should train for the coming season with high-quality rounds. It doesn’t get much better than Federal; Federal was founded in 1922 by Charles Horn and has grown in leaps and bounds over the years. In fact, Federal played a key role in World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam, and that dedication and loyalty to country shows in more ways than one. Their plant is located in Anoka, Minnesota, and all ammunition is produced to strict standards. Federal’s name is synonymous with quality; if you want top-of-the-line target rounds to prepare for hunting season, you want Federal.
At 150 grain these are relatively lightweight rounds for the cartridge but still sizeable overall. They’re FMJBT rounds, ideal for target practice, tactical training, and plinking; their Boat Tails make them perfect for honing your long-range skills because they resist cross winds more effectively and maintain a balanced trajectory. Each round zips down-range with phenomenal speed with a muzzle velocity of 2820 feet per second and sledgehammers into your target with a muzzle energy of 2648 foot-pounds. There are 500 target rounds in this box, all of which are made with fresh brass and boxer primer, so they can be reloaded. Don’t let your hunting season be anything less than perfect. Order this box of .308 Win target rounds and practice, practice, practice.
