If you’re taking up skeet shooting, this is what you can expect: the clay disks being launched from houses are 4 5/16” in diameter and 1 1/8” thick, and they’re launched 62 yards. Skeet shooting was originally created to simulate bird hunting, and there certainly are some similarities. When you shoot at a course you can expect a semicircle with a 21-yard radius and seven shooting positions with an eighth position located halfway between station 1 and station 7. Two houses contain the traps that launch clays; one trap is located at each corner of the semicircle. Skeet shooting can be a lot of fun, and if you’re participating with your 12 gauge shotgun, these Federal rounds are what you need.
These are 12 gauge rounds with 1 1/8 ounce loads. 1 1/8 ounce provides plenty of power to propel the projectiles into your target, and it does so without the more significant recoil of a larger 1 ¼ ounce load. These shells are loaded with #8 lead shot which is great for target shooting. Each shell is 2 ¾” long and bursts from the barrel of your shotgun with a muzzle velocity of 1145 feet per second. These are Federal Top Gun Target Loads and are great for shattering clays, and can also be used for target practice in general.
You get 25 rounds in this box of ammunition from Federal. Federal was founded in 1922 by Charles Horn, who got the company off the ground by distributing ammunition in filling stations, grocery stores, and barber shops. The company was awarded a government contract to build and operate what is now known as the Twin City Ordnance Plant, and through that plant Federal supplied enormous amounts of ammunition to the U.S. military through several wars. Federal manufactures ammunition for the civilian market at their plant in Anoka, Minnesota. Whether you want to shatter clays or puncture paper – or destroy pumpkins – get your order in today.
