More Details About Our 500 Rounds of 149gr FMJ XM80CL 7.62x51 Ammo by Federal
This 7.62x51 ammunition will attract a magnet. The bullet’s copper-alloy jacket is fortified with steel, which means some commercial ranges will not let you fire this ammo on their premises.
Do you want mil-spec 7.62x51? This XM80CL spec ammo is made for Federal Premium by the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant – i.e. the U.S. government’s largest ammo supplier! The “X” means it was not specifically manufactured for the U.S. Armed Forces; the “CL” simply refers to its packaging (20 rounds per box, 25 boxes per case).
This cartridge is loaded with a 149 grain full metal jacket projectile. Once it clears the muzzle, the FMJ’s 0.456 G1 ballistic coefficient means that it will remain supersonic until approximately 1,110 yards. The FMJ will not widen out if it hits a deer, which makes it a less than ideal solution for hunting. And just to reiterate, the FMJ’s jacket does contain steel and will attract a magnet!
This is new production ammo: brass-cased, reloadable, Boxer-primed and completely noncorrosive. The discolored areas around their necks and shoulders do not indicate that the cases were previously fired and reloaded. Like all brass cases, military grade brass cases become discolored when they are heat-treated for greater durability. They just aren’t subsequently polished, because shiny cases offer no practical advantage.
