Copper? It’s a fantastic metal. We’re grateful for everything it has done for ammunition over the years. But polymer? Well, you might just agree it is the far superior bullet jacket once you have witnessed Federal Premium Syntech Range 45 Auto ammo in action.

The Total Synthetic Jacket (TSJ) projectile has a normal lead core, but no copper jacket. It is instead completely encapsulated in red Syntech polymer. What’s the point? There are several points, actually. Syntech dials metallic fouling of the bore down to zero. It creates less friction as it glides across rifling, which ultimately helps to extend the barrel’s lifespan. It prevents aerosolization of lead off the core during ignition as well. And because polymer is nowhere near as brittle as copper, The TSJ presents a seriously lower risk of splash-back after having struck a steel target or other hard surface.

Federal’s state-of-the-industry propellant and lead-free Catalyst primers do even more to make this ammo shoot cleaner. Some of our customers have remarked that they barely have to clean their pistols at all after burning through a few boxes of Syntech ammo!
