Cowboy Action Shooting (CAS) has been gaining significant popularity in recent years but it’s actually been around since the 1980s when it got its start in California. There are even a number of sanctioning organizations for the sport including the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) and the National Congress of Old West Shooters (NCOWS). CAS is a shooting sport with some three-gun similarities: it utilizes pistols, rifles, and shotguns and is scored on both time and accuracy. Courses have Old West themes and shooters must use firearms that fit the guidelines of the organization, and, in fact, shooters often dress according to those same guidelines. CAS is a lot of fun, and if you participate, you need ammo like this from Fiocchi.
Fiocchi Munizioni (Fiocchi Ammunition) was founded on July 3, 1876, by an accountant by the name of Giulio Fiocchi. He got the company started by taking over an existing small arms company, and he did so right as some big changes were taking place in the world of firearms. Fiocchi got its start right as breech loaders replaced muzzle loaders, a change that required some pretty major changes in ammunition. But that wasn’t it, either, because with the changes in loading styles came a switch from black powder to smokeless. Through it all Fiocchi not only grew but flourished, and today they’re well known for producing quality, reliable ammunition for shooters all over the world.
This particular Fiocchi ammunition is for your .357 Magnum. At 158 grain it’s considered medium-weight for the cartridge size, keeping it just light enough to reach good speeds while heavy enough to pack a nice punch on impact. These are Lead Round Nose Flat Point (LRNFP) rounds; their FP creates a nice, neat hole. The lead may deform somewhat on impact, but these should not be confused with expanding rounds. These are Fiocchi’s low-recoil rounds which makes target re-acquisition faster. Each round has a muzzle velocity of 800 feet per second and muzzle energy of 225 foot-pounds. There are 50 rounds in this box. Ammunition is manufactured at Fiocchi’s U.S. plant in Ozark, Missouri. These are part of Fiocchi’s CAS line, so if you’re looking for the right ammunition for your next shoot, you’ve found it. Order now.
