More Details About Our 800 Rounds of 55gr SP .223 Ammo by PMC
The 223 Rem was not designed as a hunting cartridge – but that certainly doesn’t hold you back from using it to hunt varmints, predators, hogs, and even deer (if your jurisdiction will allow .22 cal deer hunting, that is). If you’ve got an AR or bolt-action rifle and a plan, then PMC’s Bronze label 223 hunting loads will do you right.
This cartridge is loaded with a 55 grain bullet, and its 3,200 fps muzzle velocity and 0.222 G1 ballistic coefficient (24” test barrel) are both what you could expect from a similar 5.56 M193 spec 55gr FMJ round. The key difference is the bullet design. It is a soft point, with a gilding metal jacket that keeps the bullet mostly intact as its supple lead core goes to work providing terminal expansion. This round reliably produces a wound channel that’s significantly wider than 0.224” in diameter, making it much more effective for bagging small and medium game than a simple FMJ!
PMC of South Korea fabricates all of their ammo’s components in-house using only the highest grade raw materials. You can trust these hunting loads’ virgin brass cases to cycle and reload well. Their noncorrosive Boxer primers spark up on command, and their evenly distributed propellant charges burn cleanly.
