The 7.62x39mm came about as the result of a realization in the Soviet Union that they need a new, stronger intermediate rifle cartridge. They came to that conclusion at a meeting that took place in 1943, and one of the requirements they had was that the new cartridge be usable in multiple types of infantry weapons, including semi-auto carbines, selective fire rifles, and light machine guns. A committee was formed to oversee the new cartridge’s creation and included some of the Soviet Union’s leading ammunition designers: Fedorov, Tokarev, Simonov, and Shpagin. 314 designs were considered and narrowed down to 8, and even when they finally picked one it ended up being drastically changed, which is how the 7.62x39mm was created in 1944.
This particular 7.62x39mm ammunition is made by Sellier and Bellot, a company that was founded back in 1825 by a German businessman of French origins, Louis Sellier, and his fellow countryman, Jean Maria Nicolaus Bellot. For nearly two centuries the company has been creating ammunition to fulfill the needs of shooters all around the globe. Only quality components are used in Sellier and Bellot products, and great care is taken during production to ensure quality and performance. Their ammunition is well known for its reliability and consistent performance; if you want to feed your 7.62x39mm-chambered rifle well-made rounds from an established company, these are it.
These are lightweight 123 grain rounds, so they’re going to go flying down-range with terrific speed. Don’t let their lighter weight make you think they aren’t strong, though; these rounds are capable of enormous force. This is Soft Point ammunition, so it begins to expand the moment it impacts your target while simultaneously decelerating. SP rounds penetrate more fully than HP rounds do, so they create bigger, more devastating wound cavities. Each round has a muzzle velocity of 2437 feet per second and muzzle energy of 1622 foot-pounds. You get 600 rounds in this box. This ammunition is great for hunting game such as deer and is produced in fresh brass cases with boxer primer, so you can reload it. Get your order in and find out why generations of shooters have turned to Sellier and Bellot for their hunting needs.
