- Q & A
In the world of ammunition, .40 S&W is considered a somewhat new cartridge. Whereas others such as the 9mm, .22LR, and .38 Special have been around for a century or more, the .40 S&W was created in 1990. In just that short time, though, it’s gained quite a following, and for good reasons. The .40 S&W is a tough round capable of wreaking serious havoc on targets. It has manageable recoil, drift, and drop similar to that of the 9mm, but with greater power, more along the lines of its parent cartridge, the 10mm. Many gun owners who carry for self-defense own a .40 S&W, and if that’s why you own one, you know you need target practice.
These Speer round are made for your .40 S&W and weigh in at 155 grain. At that weight they’re considered somewhat lightweight, meaning they’ll race down-range at higher speeds, but they’re still heavy enough to pack a punch. These are Total Metal Jacket, or TMJ, rounds, which are the same as Full Metal Jacket and do not expand on impact. Because these rounds are prone to over-penetration it’s doubly important to have a solid backstop in place. Each round has a muzzle velocity of 1175 feet per second and muzzle energy of 475 foot-pounds. This ammunition is great for target practice, self-defense training, and plinking.
When you place your order for this single box of ammunition you get 50 target rounds. That’s just enough to give your gun a light snack and spend a brief time at the range, so if you want to keep your gun well-fed and get serious about improving your skills, you’ll need multiple boxes. These are brand new production, non-corrosive, brass-cased rounds with boxer primer so you can collect your spent brass and reload them. This ammunition is manufactured by Speer at their longtime factory in Lewiston, Idaho, right along the banks of the Snake River. If you’re a dedicated shooter looking to improve your handgun skills, place your order now, and hit the range.

I feel that the Speer lawman ammo is the best all around performing ammo for my 40 cal S&W and I have shot Winchester/Federal/Monarch + Remington that just don't perform quite as well.
