More Details About This Tula 62gr HP .223 Ammo

The .223 cartridge has been around since 1964, and it’s become an enormously popular, widely-used round. It has almost exactly the same external dimensions as the 5.56x45mm NATO, but it’s not the same internally, and those differences matter. The .223 cartridge has a 28.8 grain, or 1.87 ml H20, case capacity and its SAAMI limits are 55,000 psi, or 379.212 MPa. Its dimensions are as follows:

  • Case type: rimless and bottleneck
  • Bullet diameter: .224 in
  • Neck diameter: .253 in
  • Shoulder diameter: .354 in
  • Base diameter: .376 in
  • Rim diameter: .378 in
  • Rim thickness: 0.45 in
  • Case length: 1.76 in
  • Overall length: 2.26 in
  • Primer type: small rifle

These particular .223 are made by the venerable Tula Arms Plant in Tula, Russia. Tula has been manufacturing ammunition since 1712, and with 300 years of experience behind them they’ve pretty much got the process down to an art form. They use their own unique bimetal layering process to create these steel-cased rounds, alternating thin layers of copper and steel until they have the perfect steel cases. When the rounds are complete they’re coated with a polymer to ensure dependable feeding and ejecting. Manufacturing this ammunition in steel cases saves a significant amount, enabling Tula to supply you with economically priced rounds so you can be a high-volume shooter without emptying your wallet.

These are medium-weight 62 grain rounds. They’re HP’s and begin to expand immediately upon impact while also decelerating, a process that results in a large, debilitating wound track. This ammunition is a good choice for hunting game such as whitetail deer and also works for home defense. You can also use it for target practice and plinking. According to Tula this ammunition has a muzzle velocity of 3025 feet per second and you know it has immense stopping power. There are 20 rounds in this box, which is a good size for tucking in your pocket when you’re out hunting or stashing in your range bag. Whether you’re going hunting or killing pop cans, you need ammo, so get your order in without delay.
