- Q & A
On July 3, 1876, an accountant by the name of Giulio Fiocchi decided to enter the ammunition manufacturing business and founded Fiocchi Munizioni (Fiocchi Ammunition). He took over an existing small-arms plant right before some major changes came about in the industry. The first significant change was the switch from muzzle loading weapons to breech loading weapons, which required major adjustments in ammunition. Soon after black powder was replaced by smokeless powder, which resulted in even more alterations to the manufacturing industry. Fiocchi managed to flourish despite those changes, maintaining a high standard of quality in part by designing and producing all their own manufacturing equipment, something they continue to do today. Today Fiocchi has been in business for almost 150 years and has a solid reputation in the industry for producing well-made, reliable rounds.
These Fiocchi rounds are meant for your .357 Magnum. These rounds weigh in at 158 grain, making them moderately weighted for the cartridge size. They’re heavy enough to make a solid impact but light enough to move down-range at impressively high speeds. These rounds feature Hornady XTP, eXtreme Terminal Performance, bullets, which are designed for maximum weight retention and, as their name suggests, terminal performance. They expand on impact, mushrooming to create a massive wound cavity. Each round has a muzzle velocity of 1250 feet per second and muzzle energy of 548 foot-pounds. This ammunition is meant for self-defense use.
There are 25 defense rounds in this single box of Fiocchi ammunition. That’s just enough to load your gun and spare magazine or speedloader. Keep in mind that defense rounds produce more felt recoil and greater muzzle rise than target rounds, so the only way to ensure accuracy is through practice. One day your life or the lives of your loved ones could depend on whether or not you trained with your chosen defense rounds, so why take chances? Fiocchi’s headquarters are located in Lecco, Italy, but they also have a factory in Ozark, Missouri, for United States sales. Place your order now and be prepared to defend yourself.
