Wolf 7.62x39 ammunition is loaded with multiple steel components! On the downside it is:
1. Unsuitable for target shooting at ranges which prohibit bullets that can attract a magnet; and
2. Not reloadable.
On the plus side, steel components cost less to manufacture than brass ones – the reason why that price tag is so darn appealing!
This cartridge’s hollow point bullet has a predominantly steel jacket. (Its exterior is “copper washed,” which is even thinner than copper plating.) The HP projectile works great for target shooting, and also delivers the terminal expansion which is desirable during a defensive scenario.
This round’s case is made of steel (a metal that is substantially less supple than brass, and not reloadable for that reason). The case is lacquered, and its mouth is sealed: two features that protect the cartridge against moisture in storage. And because this is new ammo (i.e. not Soviet surplus), its Berdan primers are completely noncorrosive.
