- Q & A
The .357 Magnum was built as a result of the collaborative efforts of a group of top designers: Elmer Keith, Phillip Sharpe, and D.B. Wesson. It was Keith whose contributions had the biggest impact, unsurprisingly; Elmer Keith is a name synonymous with the magnum cartridge realm. The .357 Magnum was created because, at the time, there was really only one handgun cartridge capable of effectively fighting back against the gangsters of the era. Those gangsters had figured out it didn’t take much to survive the average bullet and simply hid behind car doors or wore their own improvised vests. The .357 Magnum was a leap in the right direction for terminal performance.
These .357 Magnum rounds are 148 grain, making them middle-weights for the cartridge. At this weight they’re both light enough to move at good speeds while heavy enough to strike with compelling force. These are Jacketed Hollow Point (JHP) rounds and deliver rapid energy transfer and controlled expansion on impact. The jackets slow expansion, allowing the bullet to penetrate more fully and create a deeper, more traumatizing wound cavity. Each of these rounds has a muzzle velocity of 1500 feet per second and muzzle energy of 720 foot-pounds. This ammunition is specifically designed for self-defense.
There are 50 defense rounds in this box. That’s enough to keep your gun and spare mags or speed loaders ready for personal protection use, but if you want to spend time training with this ammunition – and you should – you’ll need to order more than one box. Fiocchi produces these rounds in fresh brass cases using boxer primer, so you can collect your spent casings, reload them, and get extra trigger time. Although Fiocchi’s headquarters are based in Lecco, Italy, and have been since 1876, they also have a factory in Ozark, Missouri, for U.S. distribution. If you prefer the immense knockdown power of the .357 Magnum for your self-defense needs, you want this ammunition. Order now and be ready.
