- Q & A
The 7.62x39mm entered production in 1944 in the Soviet Union. It was originally made for use in the RPD, which was a light machine gun used in the Soviet military. Before long, though, the SKS and AK-47 came along. Those two are the guns most commonly associated with this cartridge and both remain in use in many countries by both militaries and rebels. And, of course, the SKS and AK-47 are popular here because they’re fun to shoot and also great for hunting. If you enjoy slinging lead with your 7.62x39mm-chambered rifle, take a look at these target rounds.
These particular 7.62x39mm rounds are made by Red Army Standard. They weigh in at 123 grain which makes them lightweight for the cartridge. Because they’re lighter they can travel at higher speeds than their heavier counterparts. These are FMJ, Full Metal Jacket, rounds and do not expand on impact. Target rounds fired from rifles can travel for miles before coming to a stop, so be sure you have a reliable backstop in place during target practice. This ammunition is meant for target practice and plinking.
When you order this box of ammunition from Red Army Standard you get 180 target rounds. You can get some serious trigger time with 180 rounds. With that much ammo you can work on shooting prone and standing, practice firing with your weaker side, and hone accuracy and grouping. This ammunition is produced in steel cases with berdan primer to ensure ignition and extend shelf-life. Red Army Standard is a subsidiary of Century International Arms and ships components in from Eastern Bloc countries for production in the United States. Century produces ammunition in Delray Beach, Florida. Order now to feed your Russian rifle with ammunition from Mother Russia.
